| Bibliography: | Job stress has become a worldwide concern. Surveys in the United States consistently show that from one-fourth to one-third of workers report high levels of stress on the job, and situation is quite similar in Europe. Although much of the literature on job stress focuses on the effects of working conditions, there exists a substantial body of knowledge on the role of individual factors. In sum, the present articles highlight both core knowledge and new developments within the rapidly growing field of research on work and stress. Hopeful this information serves to raise awareness of the causes and casts of stress at work, and provides some incentive and insight for organizations to begin thinking about and acting in ways that lead to a less stressful environment for their workforce. |
